In Jojo’s hands, plain bottles turn into priceless works of art!
Even scrap dealers these days have a hard time figuring out ways to dispose the bottles piling up at their yards. But for Jojo Thomas from Pala, Kottayam, the fascination for bottles take on a different shade. In fact one of his latest business venture are these lovely glass art pieces.
Jojo mostly provides decorative elements for Event Management companies for their various events. His firm is called Rainbow Decor. He focuses on home interiors and creative decor elements.
Decorative lanterns made of Forex sheets and acrylic sheets are also part of collection. These can be hung or could be used as floor lamps. Specially drawn patterns are cut out manually and there are triangular and rectangular shaped lanterns. The minimum price for these lanterns is Rs.550.
The bottle art that are done using acrylic and glass paints are extremely attractive. Acrylic paints dry faster on the bottles and are easier to work with when compared to other glass paints. The hardest to draw are profiles of people as the detailing should be perfect in this case. His bottles feature popular personalities including Mother Teresa and Buddha.
Once the painting is finished, a coat of varnish is applied to give it a unique luster. Using colored threads is another way of making the bottles stand out. Apart from bottles, Jojo even paints on Bamboo and terracotta.
