Eco-friendly houses are popping up across Kerala. This house by Mohan Chavara made of mud and bamboo is the latest entrant.

Situated near the Bharatapuzha near Mannanam, Ottapalam this house has just one room and that is not all. The house is made of bamboo and mud. And his whole family are at work to set up this house.

The artists' children, 18-year-old Surya and 11-year-old Shreya have given up school and have been helping their dad in the construction process. The girls say that they know how to cultivate paddy and tend to the gardens.

They have a garden in the premises. The family cultivates paddy and other vegetables in this garden. The idea is being self sufficient they say.

20 more houses will come up in this 2-acre landscape.
